BIM – Building Information Modeling

BIM is an abbreviation of Building Information Modelling. The BIM approach allows architects, engineers, contractors, and other professionals to design, build, and manage buildings in a single 3D BIM model. The goal is to improve cooperation and information exchange on projects. A fast-paced digitisation in the construction industry in recent years follows the principles of modern industrialisation and the Industry 4.0 pan-European initiative.

Benefits of BIM for MEP engineers

Using the BIM approach, MEP engineers (mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineers) can make better design decisions faster, optimise projects, reduce risk, and improve accuracy and feasibility, thanks to the ease of visualisation.

BIM TEM Čatež catalogue

TEM’s BIM objects are collected in the BIM catalogue, available for the Autodesk Revit and the Graphisoft DDSCAD software environments. BIM objects can be used to make your 3D space both functional and aesthetic, as they are available in all catalogue colours.

BIM object

BIM objects are intelligent 3D models consisting of a graphical part and a data part. They are a key part of the BIM model as they define the properties of the planned construction. The BIM objects of TEM Čatež also include an electrical point for efficient integration into the electrical installation project.

BIM compatible software provides 2D and 3D design/ modelling with BIM, the software solution also enables automatic connection of electrical BIM objects from the TEM manufacturer into circuits. This provides calculations of voltage drops, cable dimensions, cable lengths, short-circuit currents, protective circuit breakers… All calculations are subject to European standards. Software allows the importing and exporting of standard IFC models. Export of the IFC electrical installations sub-model ensures full compatibility with everyone involved in BIM projects.
